2018-2019 Member: Taletha Egleston Site Supervisor: Karen Humber Site Location: Peninsula Poverty Response Description: Through advocacy, awareness, and action PPR strives to reduce the consquences related to poverty on the Long Beach peninsula. The AmeriCorps member would coordinate events & volunteers who would assist those who are experiencing homelessness or those who are at risk of homelessness in accessing housing and supportive resources. 2018-2019 Member: Ian Larson Site Supervisor: Astrid Aveledo Site Location: Dispute Resolution Center Description: Implement restorative practices in schools for the purpose of preventing injustice & conflict in our community. Bring people together to find lasting & effective solutions to conflict. The member will collaborative with the local schools to identify students that are exhibiting behaviors that could lead to formal disciplinary actions.The member will then recruit & manage community member volunteers to provide wrap around support to these students so that they students can stay in school and thrive. Coastal Community Action ProgramFocus: Healthy Futures - Site Specific
2018-2019 Membesr: Bennett Fairlie, Travis Winn Site Supervisor: Jaime Scoones Site Location: Coastal Community Action Program (CCAP), Long Beach Description: Implement restorative practices in schools for the purpose of preventing injustice & conflict in our community through fostering hope to to support community wellbeing and reduce chilhood ACES. Member will Increase academic support and pro-social opportunities for low income youth, increasing access to basic needs and community resources for families living in poverty, increasing opportunities for parent education and family enrichment, and increasing access to community support for young adults so that they students can stay in school and thrive. First Luthern ChurchFocus: Nutrition & Community Health
Site Supervisor: Dale Larson Site Location: First Luthern Church Description: An education program that aims to educate the youth of the community about nutrition. Members will be expected to help with the community garden, teach youth groups about healthy eating, and educate the community about nutrition. 2018 Member: Tiffani Johnson Site Supervisisor: Jennifer Mitchell Site Location: All Jr/Sr High Schools in Pacific County and CSN offices Description: Raise awareness by the facilitation of best practice curriculum that focus on the warning signs and effects of physical and sexual abuse. The “Healthy Relationships Project” will help build skills among the students attending junior/senior high school in Pacific County on how to establish and maintain healthy relationships, thus increasing resiliency to ACEs. Currently educating students at Naselle Youth Camp and Raymond High School.
